JOIN US IF:
You yearn for a consistent prayer life, You would like to improve your relationship with God,
You want to hear God when He talks to you
The St. Teresa of Avila Sodality invites you to join us to share ways to help improve your well-being with prayer and connection with Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary. We are devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of the Church, the Mother of God who calls us to lives of conversion and witness: to work at embodying the truth and values of Christ in everything we do, living out the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love.
St. Catherine of Sienna tells us “Charity is the sweet and Holy bond which links the soul with the Creator: it binds God with Man and Man with God.” We will always remember that the title “FULL OF GRACE” calls us to surrender ourselves to mediating Christ’s divine life to others through LOVE. Sodalists respond to the roles of religious consciousness throughout our daily lives. We desire to be consistent in a life of piety and devotion that leads to a loving relationship with God. We seek to share a spiritual connection with Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary and others.
♦
The St. Teresa of Avila Sodality currently meets every first Sunday of the month immediately following our 9:30 am virtual Mass. We will continue to manage our meetings through teleconference calls until we are able to return to church. Meetings are not held in July and August. However, we lead the recitation of the rosary every Sunday following the virtual Mass and invite our parishioners and others to join us. A call-in phone number is provided in our weekly bulletin.
At our monthly meetings, we invite speakers who provide insight on ways to better dedicate ourselves to our Mother Mary and gain insight on various Catholic topics such as the Charisma of the Missionaries, Sisters in the Spirit and Mother Mary’s Role in Salvation. In the second part of the meeting, we conduct the business portion to plan our spiritual and apostolic events to service families, the Church, and the community for the year.
♦
Since 1918 we have been active members of the Sodality Union of the Archdiocese of Washington (ADW). St. Teresa of Avila is proud to have two (2) Sodalists who were elected President of the Sodality Union: Pauline Chaney (1980-1982) and Mildred Steptoe (2012-2014). The members of the St. Teresa of Avila Sodality appreciate the opportunity to serve its members, the Church, the Sodality Union ADW, the community; and continue to pray for peace, joy in the Holy Spirit, and many graces from the Blessed Virgin Mary.
